South West (WA) Small Business Awards

Around two thirds of the net employment growth in Australia comes from small business.  Medium sized businesses provide most of the balance, while large firms show a net decline or very small number of new jobs created.

It often surprises non-business owners that it is common for many small business owners to work around 60 hours a week in their business for financial return very often much less than some of their employees.  Often small business owners have also invested a good part of their life savings in the business venture, and need to ensure the viability and growth of their business to secure their long term financial security.

There are few opportunities for us to recognise the valuable contribution the small business sector makes to our communities.  One such opportunity, the annual Small Business Awards, has become a very visible way we can recognise the endeavours & achievements of our regions best businesses.

Business Grow manages the South West Small Business Awards.  The South West has achieved significant success in these competitions over the past 10 years, largely as a result of the Business Grow Program.  Business Grow identifies and encourages businesses as suitable entrants in the competition and assists them to prepare their entries to best reflect their business in their submissions.  Through encouraging businesses to enter the awards and to adopt business improvement strategies such as training and management systems, Business Grow is facilitating in the development and recognitition of business leadership.
