Business Counselling

The Business Counsellor acts as a "sounding board" for people with business ideas, offers constructive suggestions and identifies possible problems that may not have been thought of.

  • This service provides people embarking on a new enterprise or project access to an experienced and friendly ear to share their ideas and concerns.

  • The Business Development Counsellor has access to information on business registrations, licences, regulations, business structures, taxation, obtaining bank finance, employing staff, and can assist you work through a basic business plan and financial projections to determine if your business proposal is likely to succeed.

  • Several local professionals such as accountants, solicitors, and patent attorneys provide a no cost initial service to businesses referred to them through the SBCBW.

  • People wanting to start their own business often simply don't know what steps they need to take.  The Business Development Counsellor can give them information on the various things that they should do to start their business off on the 'right foot'.

  • The most important question the Business Development Counsellor assist the new business proponent to answer is 'Is this idea likely to be financially viable?'

  • Through simple market research and working through proposed cash-flow projections, the answer soon becomes clear.  If the business appears viable at this stage, the counsellor will assist the owner/s to put together a business plan for their proposal, outlining a very clear direction, goals and plans for the first few vital years of a new business venture.
